In More Detail...........
We're just regular city folk who used to thrive in the "corporate rat race". But because of the times, we found ourselves BOTH laid off. I (Lori) was laid off back in January of 2003. Stressed o ut to the max and realized a diffiernt direction in my life was needed. We started to dust off our resume's but then we them back in the cabinet to collect more dust and took the leap and start our own business.
Starting our own business. We always wanted to run our own business someday but never realized it would be a dream come true! During the previos years before getting laid off we were researching, reading, studying, taking classes and learning about the 1)dog business and 2)running a bed and breakfast inn. Initally we were going to wait till we retired to open up a place.
Why the combination? We were going to specialize in not only accepting guests with dogs but also "babysit" those pooches while their "parents" went out to see the town and maybe enjoy a nice restaurant. And we looked forward to sitting around the porch with dogs at our feet and chatting and getting to hear stories from all over.
However, now we basically run a bed and breakfast inn for pooches only and we don't have to change sheets everyday! And..., the parents gotta get their own room elsewhere.
Dreams DO come true... we're living proof!
Our business is split in two... Lori manages the daycare and boarding side and Don manages the walking and sitting care.
As a husband and wife team we work well together and have opened our home and hearts to our canine clients.
We have 3 open adjoining rooms that run through house and a fully enclosed backyard with lots of textures, smells, shade, sun... etc. We treat each dog as if they were our very own so they get lots of love and attention.
There's so much stimulation here that our doggie visitors barely notice the owners gone. Lots of dogs to play with, lots of places to nap, treats at noon, trips to park or beach, traffic out the front window to monitor, seemingly unlimited exploring outside and in with scents to please any canine nose, and .... well...... you get the idea. :-)
In the evening we like to barbecue out back and maybe come in and watch a movie afterward. Sometimes we even will put on a "doggie" movie. Jasmine, one of our toy dogs, has a favorite movie so far... almost entire show is of birds flying!
There are many things that set us apart from the rest and if you are looking for a caring home environment where your dog gets lots of attention, activity, and love - we are your answer. Our home is inbetween the Mission District and Noe Valley in San Francisco. |
